90% of 2021 BECE candidates will get school placement – CSSPS
EduLearWeb Update: 90% of 2021 BECE candidates will get school placement according to CSSPS
The Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) says 90 per cent of 2021 BECE candidates expected to sit for the 31st edition of the national examination from Monday to Friday will get Senior High School placement.
Mr Mark Sasu, the National Coordinator for the School Selection System in an interview with Kumasi-based OTEC FM monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh said adequate measures have been put in place to ensure smooth placement.
He said, unlike last year that 85% of the candidates who sat for the 30th edition of the BECE for School were placed, the Ghana Education Service (GES) this academic year has targeted to place 90% of the final year Junior High students.
Mr Sasu told the host of OTEC FM’S political show ‘Dwabrem’, Dr Cash four categories of candidates representing the 571,894 this year will be placed under the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
“GES is ready to place four categories of candidates, the private candidates who sat to better their grades, the foreign candidates and the re-entry candidates who could not get placement due to peculiar issues last year,” he stated.
Scheduled for November 15 to November 19, 2021, the CSSPS coordinator urged the prospective candidates to focus on the examination since the new placement criteria and selection of schools would be done after the 2021 BECE.
A total of 571,894 prospective candidates from Monday, November 15 to Friday, November 19, 2021, will sit for the 31st edition of the national examination to be administered by the West African Examinations Council at 2,158 centres.
The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) ahead of the administration of the national examination has advised candidates to concentrate on their books and desist from engaging in examination malpractice.
It in a statement also urged supervisors and invigilators to be guided by the rules of the BECE, be vigilant and refrain from taking their mobile phones to the examination hall, and carry out their duties as expected.
