Association of Aggrieved Teachers has disclosed the government would pay the Legacy Arrears of 2555 teachers affected by the end of October.

Fallouts of the supposed demonstration include a meeting with the Ghana Police Service and the management of the Ghana Education Service. The GES while meeting the aggrieved teacher disclosed that through Auditing they will be paying 2555 teachers this October.
Another 11,400 will teachers whose legacy arrears have not been paid will have them settled by the end of November 2020 but only after teachers affected have furnished the service with the relevant information by 7th October 2020.
These were contained in a press release by the leadership of the aggrieved teachers and signed by Nana Opoku Piesie Foster (President ) who was in the company of
Mr. Kwaku Effah Tabiri F (National Pro) and Mr. Ankamah Stephen (secretary ) when the met the leadership of the GES.
The GES disclosed that it was not possible for the service to ascertain how much the teachers were owed if they do not comply with the submission of information to the service. The GES has directed district IPPD coordinators to accept all forms but separate those in the list from those who are captured to avoid duplication and its associated delays.
Earlier reports that the Ghana Police did not give the teacher the green light to embark on the demonstration did not materialize. Aggrieved teachers converged in Accra from Ashanti, Bono, Volta, and The Northern part of the country to join their colleagues in Accra.
At the meeting were the 2 deputies of Director-General, the Director in charge of finance, and the Human resources manager( Adwoa VanVicker) of the GES. The teachers recounted the numerous times they have been directed to file details by filling of forms, yet their grievances have not been addressed.
We had a lot of discussions and through that, we told the Director-General of the countless number of filling the same forms over and over again, yet proved futile.
The Aggrieved Teachers have vowed to follow due process to demand for their unpaid Legacy Arrears if the GES fails to pay by the end of November as agreed on during the meeting “if by Validation in November the money doesn’t hit in our bank account then we will follow due process to address our concerns”
