Remedies for that Itchy Throat

Raw Honey or Honey Tea

Studies show that honey, either eaten directly or mixed with hot tea, is a great way to soothe an itchy throat. But make sure to buy real honey at a farmer’s market or local co-op. Many of the grocery store versions are less honey, and more sugar-water mixture.

Saltwater Gargle

If you have allergies, mucus dripping down the back of your throat can cause soreness, redness and itchy coughs. Use a saltwater gargle to cleanse the back of your throat and wash away some of the bacteria that grows there. This will help to reduce inflammation and that scratchy feeling.

Herbal Tea

Coughing often gets worse at night when you lie down. Drink a cup of herbal tea to soothe your throat and relax your muscles. This won’t completely eliminate your cough, but it can help enough that you’ll be able to fall asleep sooner and stay asleep longer.

Turmeric Milk

Turmeric is known to contain soothing chemicals. Add it to milk for a nice coating over your itchy throat. You can add some ginger into this drink as well since this root increases circulation and helps clear out mucus.

Spiced Tea with Ginger and Cinnamon

Remedies for that Itchy Throat cant be exhausted without mention of Spiced Tea with Ginger and Cinnamon. For a Christmasy cure, try some spiced tea with ginger and cinnamon. Both of these ingredients have anti-inflammatory properties that can help calm your throat. Plus, who doesn’t love that sweet, soothing smell of winter evenings?
