WASSCE candidate to death

A 2020 WASSCE candidate of Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti region met her untimely death when two persons riding an unregistered motorbike rammed into the final year student.

The 16-year-old Gladys Awuni who visited the sick mother and was on her way to school was knocked down by two suspects Wahab Awudu, 35, and Kwaku Owusu, 33.

The student was pronounced dead on arrival by health officers at the Nyinahin Government Hospital after she was rushed to the facility.

The family of the deceased are demanding justice for the loss of their child five months after the incident. The sad event occurred on February 20 this year.

Per the Police statement …

“The suspects were travelling from Agogoso towards Akota village. On reaching a section of the road at the outskirt of Otaakrom knocked the victim Gladys Awuni, aged 15, a day student of the Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School”.

An autopsy report has also revealed the victim had a severe head injury leading to her demise

Dr. Mark Forson declared that the victim died of a “severe head injury due to knockdown”

Gladys Awuni who was already a registered candidate for the WAEC 2020 WASSCE and a beneficiary of the Free SHS first batch, has had her dreams terminated by two careless persons who the family wants to see punished to deter like persons.

The shocking revelation is that after knocking WASSCE candidate to death the two suspects left her at the scene and rather rushed to the health facility to report the matter.
“After knocking down my sister, they rather rushed to the hospital and left my sister unattended to at the accident scene, these boys are always patronizing a popular cocaine joint in the Otaakrom town.” Brother of the deceased said.
Investigations have also shown they use cocaine and other drugs information picked on the ground also point to countless efforts by the police to halt the activities of drug peddlers in the area.
The community has called on the police to up their game and ensure justice is served.
