CSSPS Portal | 2023 School Placement Matters Arising

Per the information available on this portal, the GES and MoE were to ensure the CSSPS Portal goes live today ahead of the release of Senior High school placement. However, our checks suggest the portal is not yet accessible globally.

At the time of this publication, the portal for accessing school placement, https://cssps.gov.gh/, was yet to be up and running.

Anxiety is building up among students and parents as the GES and MoE work towards the official release of the placements.

Parents and students should not leave their self-placement in the hands of internet cafe attendants or operators in the case of self-placement.

Parents and guardians must also take a keen interest in the Senior High School computer placement of their wards to avoid mistakes or bad school selection.

Parents must be extra cautious of individuals who claim to have access to the placement system.

Preparations are often made by the GES before, during, and after the school placement each year.

The Free SHS Secretariat, in collaboration with the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), has put in place the following measures to address school placement problems likely to be reported by students after the release of the computer school placements of students who sat for 2022 BECE:

• Establish call centres to receive complaints from the general public, particularly students with difficulties with regards to the SHS placement.
• Train personnel in good customer service skills to attend to people who would be inquiring, seeking clarification, and seeking other information on the 2023 school placement.
• Use traditional media such as television stations, radio, and newspapers to communicate crucial information that might be beneficial to all during the placement.
• Establish national and regional solution centres across the country to provide real-time support to prospective students and the public on computer school placement.
• A technical team from the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) and the Free SHS Secretariat will solve reported placement challenges by stakeholders, parents, and students instantly.

Beware of scammers during the 2023 school placement.

Note the following:

1. Students should be vigilant and disregard claims by some internet cafe operators who claim they can change the placement.
2. Unscrupulous cafe operators lure the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates to pay an amount of money for their already placed or selected senior High school to be changed to their preferred choice.
3. The computerized school placement system (CSSPS) portal, as part of measures to ensure the smooth placement of all successful 2023 BECE students, has been secured and is not possible to compromise.
4. Any person who contacts you to pay any amount of money for your placed or selected school to be changed or claims to have access to the school placement system or websites is a fraudster.
5. Parents and guardians should find time and take a keen interest in the selection of schools and school placement to ensure their wards are placed in a school to benefit from the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.

How to do 2023 school self-placement at CSSPS

1. Visit the computer school placement portal.

2. Then select the check placement module on the left-hand side.

3. Enter your BECE index number (e.g., 100000000019) and

4. Enter your e-voucher code (12 digits).

5. Click on Proceed to be redirected to the self-placement module.

When redirected successfully to the self-placement module, you will be provided with a selection of schools to pick from based on the aggregate or grade you had in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

6. Choose carefully your desired second-cycle school.

7. Choose your residential preference (day or board).

8. Select your programme of choice.

9. After doing all the necessary checks, confirm and print. Remember that once you have completed the selection process, it cannot be undone or changed.
