Nearsightedness
People who are nearsighted can see objects clearly if they’re close up. But things far away appear blurry. This usually happens as the eye develops, so you’ll know in your teens or early 20’s if you need glasses. Today, there are contact lenses and Lasik surgery for those who don’t want to deal with glasses on their face.
Farsightedness
This condition is the opposite of nearsightedness. People can see far away objects, but not close up objects. Farsightedness happens as we get older. That’s why people around 45 to 50 years of age often need reading glasses. This condition can also be treated with Lasik surgery, but it’s best to make sure that your eyes aren’t getting any worse before plunking down the money for the procedure.
Migraines
Some migraines can cause blurry vision. You might not even experience a lot of pain, but you’ll notice spots of blurriness. To treat chronic migraines, it’s best to see your doctor who may then refer you to a neurologist.
Dry Eyes
Dry eyes can happen if there is a lot of pollen or dust in the air. It can also just be a natural condition that someone is born with. Often, people experience dry eyes after eye surgery. Usually, eye drops or artificial tears can help to temporarily relieve these symptoms. If you find that the dry eyes are interfering with your life, it might be time to see an eye doctor.
Something More Serious…
Serious conditions that cause blurry vision include stroke, brain tumors, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and severe diabetes. However, if blurry vision is the only thing you’re experiencing, you probably don’t have these other conditions. Since they’re so severe, most of these diseases are accompanied by seizures, tremors, loss of muscle control, and even loss of consciousness. If you do have one of these diseases, blurry vision is the least of your worries.
