The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) following the upcoming 2021 BECE for School Candidates has called for the conduct of the national examination to be examination malpractice and questions leakage free.
Mr Enoch Gyetuah speaking in an interview monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh said the annual cases of the BECE questions leakage does not only affect the candidates phycological but also causes financial loss to the country.
“We urge the Management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) this time to be proactive and ensure they protect the examination questions from leaking on various social media platforms,” GNACOPS Executive Directo stated.
He said the credibility of the certificate issued to candidates who wrote the Basic Education Certificate Examination could be undermined by other countries if measures are not put in place to end the malpractice and leakages.
“The Ghana National Council of Private Schools is begging WAEC to ensure adequate steps are initiated to make the administration of the 31st edition of BECE exams is malpractice or Apor free in the history of the country,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Head, Public Affairs of the Examinations Council, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe has said cases of questions leakage will be a thing of the past during the administration of the BECE for School slated for November this year.
Speaking in an interview monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh, the Head, Public Affairs of the Examinations Council, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe said effective measures have been putten in place to ensure no such case is recorded.
“This year we have put in place strict measures I am not going to disclose in this interview for security reasons to ensure no question paper is leaked during the administration of this year BECE and WASSCE examination,” she stated.
Mrs Agnes Teye said the Council in the past decades had executed various steps including cancelling candidates entire results to curb the regular examination leakage and malpractice but this time is a different thing altogether.

“We in the past years have put in much effort to stop the unfortunate incident from happening but you see once people want to cheat they always find ways and means, this year is a different thing we are going to do,” Teye added.

A total of 539,202 students from 18,013 public and private Junior High Schools (JHSs) across the country according to a staff of WAEC will be partaking in the 2021 BECE for School to be conducted from November 15 to 19, 2021.
