NAPO clarifies ‘controversial’ $1.2m world bank teachers training scandal
While the current Education Minister, Dr. Adutwum has reacted to the $1.2 million scandal by indicating that he is not corrupt; the former Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has also given clarification on the controversial World Bank project which was aimed at training over 40,000 teachers.
He has stated that the Ministry of Education, while he was in post, did not carry out the training component of the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP) during his tenure under the $1.2 million World Bank Project.
The training being organized by the GES and under the KA Technology One Teacher One Laptop is not the same as the controversial GALOP Teacher Digital Literacy training program under National Teachers Council.
The former Education Minister said that the GALOP and KA Technology Digital training should not be confused as being the same programme.
He said, “KAT digital training isn’t a substitute for GALOP training. These are two different training programs. As Education Minister, I negotiated both programs and know that they are not the same”.
