Boulder, CO
Boulder is a town that’s situated outside of Denver. It’s nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and gives its inhabitants access to skiing, snowboarding, biking, hiking, rafting, and other outdoor activities all year long. There are also a number of craft breweries in the area and any bar will have an excellent selection of local beers. You can head downtown to do some shopping and grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants there. People usually fall in love with this town and stick around even after graduation.
Ann Arbor, MI
If you’re looking for a career in science, data science, and cutting edge computer science, then head to Ann Arbor. The University of Michigan hires the most people, with one-third of the town being college students or university affiliates. This college town is also home to Google AdWords offices and Toyota. There’s a sprawling downtown with bars, restaurants, and shopping. And if you’re a football fan, you’ll love the culture, especially from September to February.
Ithaca, NY
Ithaca is home to Cornell University and Ithaca College. This college town is quaint and full of mom and pop shops. Outside of the town, there are plenty of gorges to swim in, hiking trails, state parks, and one of the biggest fingers lakes, Lake Cayuga. It’s very easy to settle into a quiet life in this little town. Many people graduate and find jobs at Cornell University. Agriculture, veterinary science, and other scientific fields of study are popular there, thanks to Cornell’s top veterinary college. If you love animals, you’ll definitely want to visit Ithaca.
Ames, IA
Ames is home to the University of Iowa, as well as 3M, and the US Department of Agriculture National Animal Disease Center. This mid-western town is truly a little “town.” The people are friendly, the unemployment rate is low, and it’s consistently on the list of “best places to live.” Many people enjoy the laid back way of life and high standard of living here. If the location isn’t for you long term, you can always visit to get a taste of life in Ames.
Berkeley, CA
Berkeley is only a short train ride away from San Francisco. You’ll get to enjoy life by the bay at a lower cost. Enjoy football games at UC Berkeley or any of the restaurants in the area. Since you’re on the west coast, many of the bars carry some of the most elusive and exclusive craft beers, such as Pliny the Younger (when it comes out). And you don’t need to drive too far to be out in nature either. Many people enjoy weekends in Lake Tahoe and return to the city for the week.
