WAEC begins investigations into alleged examination malpractices in WASSCE 2020
Information coming in indicates that WAEC has initiated investigations into alleged examination malpractices in ongoing WASSCE 2020. The WAEC Branch Controller for Ashanti region, Divine Worlanyo Agbenyo said in an interview he granted Citi FM within Accra that schools found culpable may have their subject papers cancelled.
WAEC investigations
“When irregular activities are reported before or after the conduct of an examination, all these are punishable. Some of these are such that you can have the entire subject results for that paper cancelled. Parents are to ensure that their wards study hard to merit whatever certificate that they will be getting,” he said.
Mr. Bright Amponsah, of Bright Senior High School (SHS) at Kukurantumi in the Eastern Region, has been arrested for his alleged attempt in instigating an attack on an Invigilator and a reporter with the Daily Graphic because they were prevented from cheating in the ongoing examination.
In a related development, the WAEC holds the view that some teachers in the country’s Second Cycle Schools are contributing to the on-goings alleged examination malpractices. In two articles published by Edulearnweb.com, we proved that teachers in Dadieso SHS are involved in unaccepted practice and are charging students SIGN OFF fees (Apor Fees to allow students to cheat in the ongoing examination). The WAEC has therefore commenced investigations into claims of examination malpractices in SHSs. WAEC investigations and the findings will help unravel the truth.
WASSCE 2020 students violence
An educationist, Mr Samuel Richard Ziggah and the general public have voiced out their frustration over the behaviour of final year SHS students writing the WASSCE 2020.
this light, they have indicated that the students have the moral right to lay all the blame on the shoulders of President Akufo-Addo if they fail the ongoing examination as a result of the politicization of the examination and education.
From all indications, our WASSCE 2020 candidates are not ready for the examination and are half baked. These have baked scholars are likely to create more problems for the Ghanaian society. Private Secondary Schools and Remedial Schools should better expand their infrastructure to readmit many of these students.
Videos made by the students in which they kept insulting the president has been condemned just as the President’s assertion that the same students are Akufo-Addo’ graduates during his address to the students ahead of the reopening of schools.
Mr. Samuel Richard Ziggah an educationist, whiles commenting on the ongoings in schools by students who have been captured in trending videos said the actions and choice of words by the students was rather sad.
The final year students insulted the President of Ghana, because, he offered them past questions on all subjects. They spent all their time and effort to solve those past questions page to page however, the exams never featured such questions.
Having had their hopes of a smooth through with the Integrated Science dashed, they decided to run their mouths with no respect to the leadership of the country.
Mr Samuel Richard Ziggah during an interview with Rainbow Radio 87.5FM on the programme ‘Frontline’ show said the students believed they were entitled to alleged promises of being helped to pass the examination. “Why should we make education political? He quizzed.
In his views, politicians have reduced education into a political tool and property; the use of achievements during their reign to tout their performance as governments. Statements such as WASSCE students performed better during my term has become a common chorus they sing year in year out.
He added that, examinations have two outcomes; either a student passes or fails and the grades obtained are not awarded due to the beauty, how handsome a student is or any of such qualities but based on one’s output in the examination.
In his estimation, should the students fail the WASSCE 2020, the blame must be given to President Akuffo Addo. Mr. Ziggah added that the insults being rained on the president is the lesson they learnt which has also become part of the body politics of the country.
