WAEC to reportedly conduct 2022 WASSCE for School in May/June is the latest information out there regarding WASSCE for school candidates.

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) is considering administering the 2022 WASSCE for School in May/June and not in the recent August/October, a source familiar with the development has told EducationWeb.com.gh.

According to the source, the Chairman of Council, Prof. Ato Essuman after the Nigeria Minister for Education pushed for the international examination to be conducted in May/June next academic year has said it will be considered.

Meanwhile, the Management of the non-profit-making organization (WAEC) is yet to release the results of candidates who sat for the 2021 edition of the West  African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School.

A staff of the Examinations Council last week told EducationWeb co-ordination and marking of the examination scripts have been completed adding that processing of results as well as other post-examination activities are ongoing.

“Candidates are to expect the release of the WASSCE School results in due course, the Council has completed marking the scripts. I will also urge them to disregard false information on social about the results,” the WAEC official stated.

The 2021 international examination results he said when released by his outfit will be published only on the WAEC results checking portal at https://ghana.waecdirect.org/ for candidates and the public to access.

He further advised the general public particularly WASSCE graduates who sat for the just-ended examination to be wary of websites announcing the release of the results and of persons who promise to upgrade results for a fee.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in its regional breakdown of final year Senior High School students who sat for this year’s WASSCE said Ashanti Region provided the largest number of candidates for the examination.

According to the statistics, a total of 108,485 candidates representing 54,422 males and 54,063 from the Ashanti Region participated in the WASSCE. Greater Accra provided 47,594 made up of 22,655 boys and 24,939 girls.

The West African Senior School Certificate Examination officially commenced on August 16, 2021, with 446,321 representing 221,437 males and 234,884 females from 965 Senior High Schools at 763 examination centres.
