WASSCE 2020 invigilators admonished to uphold integrity to avoid examination malpractices
WASSCE Examination malpractices always place WAEC examinations in questionable situations when unethical malpractices aimed at cheating in the exams are reported.
This sad occurrence impacts the integrity of the examining body and dent the credibility of results and the examination.

To ensure this year’s WASSCE is free from such reports and outcomes, teachers serving as invigilators have been advised to desist from any form of action that will contribute to cheating in the examination.
Mr. Gideon Dickson Agbanyo a Writer and Editor shared his opinion on the matter and called on teachers to uphold integrity in the conduct of their duties.
He argued that students, invigilators and other actors over the years have evolved ways of trying to bypass the laid down rules just to cheat in the examination.
He said…
Today, you meet a student holding WASSCE certificate with full of A’s &B’s. Probe the person small, you will realize that the person in question does not worth it. So you will be intuited to ask: what actually warranted the scoring of that grade?
The reality is that, people are not excited anymore if they hear a student has passed the WASSCE well.
We do not want to believe that the scores obtained by the student equate his or her true academic prowess.
Many have excelled without thoroughly deserving it in such examinations because they gained some form of undue favour before, during, or after the examination.

Mr. Gideon Dickson Agbanyo related the undeserved passes to the kind of professionals Ghana is producing as a country.
Today, we hear people die every day in the various hospitals across the country at an alarming rate following some nurses’ and doctors’ negligence. I hold the conviction that this “apor” thing and many others are among the numerous reasons. Some teachers, too, stoop so low that they soil their integrity by allowing or write for students to pass their exams. He said
He admonished all invigilators and others providing any form of service for the successful conduct of the WASSCE to remember that candidates will become tomorrow’s professionals such as teacher, nurse, doctor, lawyer, and others. Hence the country should not expect any diligent service from them in the future if we bend the rules for their exam success today or fail to perform our duties.

He proverbially said
If you throw a ball against a wall, it will come back to you. Teacher, leave your positive mark indelibly.
That is the challenge to all as students sit their WASSCE 2020 exams in this COVID-19 era. Let us stand up against WASSCE Examination malpractices now!.
