700 Basic Schools to recieve 50 computers each in March – Dr Adutwum
Plans are far advanced to supply 700 Basic Schools to recieve 50 computers each in March 2022 to facilitate the effective teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
This was disclosed by Dr. Yaw Adutwum, the Minister of Education, during an interview on UTV. He added that facilitators in the various schools will also be empowered with the requisite training on how they can deploy the computers to facilitate the teaching and learning of ICT at the basic lower level.
The distribution of the computers will not be to only schools in the cities, but also those in the villages. A total of 700 schools are to receive up to 50 computers each.
The government has already commenced the One Teacher One Laptop project that has seen teachers at all levels at the Pre tertiary level receiving laptops to facilitate teaching and learning as part of government’s effort to digitize education.
In a related development, dedicated email addresses are to be provided to teachers to facilitate communication between Ghana Education Service (GES) and facilitators around the country. This is expected to reduce the nuisance of fake documents being splashed on social media.

The 700 Basic Schools to receive 50 computers each in March news has been welcomed by many, however some level of skepticism exists as to the criteria for selecting schools and the supply of computers to schools in the villages where many of such schools do not have the best of classrooms and electricity to make such IT equipment useful.
