2 Regions JHS teachers yet to receive Mate 1 laptops – GNAT
The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has debunked claims indicating all Junior High Schools teachers in the country have received their Mate 1 laptops procured by the government to aid teaching and learning activities.
Thomas Musah, the General Secretary of GNAT in a communique sighted by EducationWeb said teachers in various public Junior High Schools in the Ashanti and Volta Region at the appropriate time will receive their TM1 laptops.
“All Junior High School (JHS) teachers in the country have received except Volta and Ashanti Regions are yet to be served. All those in JHS who have not received will get it,” the Teachers Association member said on Friday.
Musah in a social media post confirmed all public Senior High School (SHS) teachers across the country have received their laptops but indicated teachers in the primary and kindergarten throughout the country are yet to be served.
The first phase of the nationwide distribution of the Mate 1 laptops to Senior High School teachers across the country ended on Friday, December 17, 2021.
Speaking to journalists last year, the GES Director-General said the second and third phases of the government teachers’ laptops distribution process will commence next year when the 2022 academic year start in January.
In a statement copied to EducationWeb.com.gh, the Professor said 80% of the 62,000 laptops as of December 10, 2021, have been delivered to qualified and eligible Senior High School teachers across the regions in the country.
Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa said the second and third phases will see both public Junior High and primary school teachers across the country receive their brand new state of unparalleled all-day battery life laptops.

“TM1 is a world-class laptop built to inspire learning and superior performance. It is provisioned with a custom-built desktop application that delivers electronic learning and teaching content in a user-friendly electronic format.
This makes learning fun and enables equitable access to teaching resources needed by teachers in rural and urban areas. TM1 is every learner’s companion at an exceptional value,” the GES official told the media in December 2021.
