JHS Teachers Training on New Curriculum, Date for Text books release out
The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has completed the new Curriculum for the Junior High School. This new syllabus is to be rolled out when the next academic year begins.
Edulearnweb has projected that the current academic year which has been affected by the coronavirus is likely to be annulled. This may be the single reason the government held on with the reopening of school for KG-Basic 6, SHS1, and JHS1 students.
If the government, the Ministry of Education, and the Ghana Education Service annul the 2019/2020 academic year, it is likely to commence the implementation of the new syllabus in JHS1 and SHS1 along with the Basic1 to Basic 6 all over again.

To ensure a smooth commencement, training of JHS Teachers on the New Curriculum is being planned and would be rolled out.
The GES in collaboration with NaCCA will ensure the full training of all Teachers at the Junior High School and Senior High School Levels before schools resume fully.
At the last meeting of the for COHBS, it was announced that plans were far advanced to get the relevant books ready for the various subjects before schools resume in January 2021.
To this end, the Government has developed the needed Curriculum however, individuals or company writers and publishers have commenced work on the writing of the appropriate textbooks.
Upon completion and approval of such books, the government would purchase the approved books for public schools. This would ensure the availability of books in all public schools for effective teaching and learning.
Stakeholders especially parents are hopeful that no delays would occur as was the case of KGs to Basic which led to schools reopening without textbooks.
Valuation is ongoing and by January 2021 the textbooks will be ready in schools per the communique from the COHBS.
