Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational School Shut Down Over Student Unrest
On Sunday, a group of students from Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational School pupils in Asokore, in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region, damaged school property and other properties belonging to some teachers during a violent demonstration.

Although the cause of the demonstration unclear, school authority claim it may be related to the students' apparent unhappiness with their seniors' bad results in the 2022 Examinations.
The schools writes two examinations. The both National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) certificate Two and National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) Certificate Examinations. Per information from the School Senior House Master, Agyen Emmanuel, certificates from these examinations are yet to be released.
Six cars were damaged as a result of the violent demonstration. Four out of the six belong to the school. The rest were private cars owned by the Senior House Master and Senior House Mistress. Other items destroyed includes, the bungalow of the Senior House Mistress, the food store and food supplies and the school’s notice board.
Following the incident, Dr. Annor Ankrah, the Ashanti Regional Director of Education together with the District Director of Education visited the school.
The Ghana Police Service arrested some students for questioning.

Per a press statement release by the Ghana TVET Service on 22nd January, 2023 and signed by the Director-General, Mawusi Nudekor Awity, the Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational School has been closed down with immediate effect.
