NPP Flagbearership: Bawumia Picks Form To Contest The NPP Presidential Primary [PHOTOS]
As more and more people consider running for president in the upcoming 2024 general election, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary is heating up. Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has enlisted the help of Fred Owure, a former vice chairman of the NPP, to pick up nomination forms on his behalf.
Before this month’s opening of nominations for the governing NPP’s presidential primary, the vice president told the Majority Caucus in Parliament of his intention to run for president.
There are currently more than 100 members of parliament who have come out in support of Vice President Bawumia. The members of parliament are certain that the second gentleman of the land is the key to the ruling party’s success in “breaking the 8.”
Bawumia has been a strong advocate for the government’s digitalization strategy to boost economic growth, and his economic expertise and ability to articulate government ideas have earned him widespread respect. Former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has also picked up his nomination forms through his agents, as have former Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko, former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Mampong, Francis Addai-Nimo, and economist, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku.
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a member of parliament for the Assin Central constituency; Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, a former minister of trade and industry; and Joe Ghartey, a former minister of railways, are the three remaining possible candidates.
Saturday, November 4, 2023, will be the primary election day.
Online reactions
Asantewaa: This is good news; we will vote for him. We need more digitalization in our country. I believe Bawumia can help the NPP break the 8.
Joeboy: NPP by the way nothing can stop Bawumia from becoming our next president since the Asantes already love him. The battle is still the Lord’s.
