2020 CSSPS school selection guide for SHS placement
The 2020 BECE is over, however, that paves way for the 2020 CSSPS school selection for SHS placement. The Ghana Education Service (GES) has disclosed that it has put in place adequate measures and guidelines for effective CSSPS school selection process.
This process is the last phase of the BECE registration process as it will help the GES to place qualified BECE graduates into Senior High Schools (SHSs) based on the selections they make
To ensure the process is hitches free, all the second cycle institutions in Ghana have been put in categories.

CSSPS guidelines for selection of schools for placement 2020 – CSSPS school selection for SHS placement
A. Grouping of Schools
I. Public Second Cycle Institutions: Four groups namely Categories A, B, C and D
II. Category E comprises all 2nd cycle schools that offer Technical Vocational Programmes
II. Private Schools -Senior High/Technical Vocational Institutions (Categories F & G) respectively
B. Updates Added
I. All Technical, Vocational Institutions have been categorized into A, Band C, and added to SHS/SHTS
II. Category E comprises all 2nd cycle schools that offer Technical Vocational Programmes
U. Appendix A; contains Detailed Technical Vocational Programmes
III. Appendix B; contains Detailed Senior High Technical Vocational Programmes
C. Before Selection of schools and Programmes
Before making any selection of schools and programmes offered in these schools, parents are advised to note that all schools selected (1st to 5th) are considered in the placement of candidates.
D. Conditions for selection of schools
a. Must choose five (5) schools (1st to 5th choice).
b. Must select programmes and accommodation in each school of choice.
c. Candidates must list choices 1- 3 in order of preference
d. Candidate’s 4th Choice must be from Category E
e. Candidate’s 5th Choice must be from Category D
f. May select four (4) choices from Category C and One (1) from Category D
g. Cannot select more than two (2) schools from Category B
h. Cannot choose more than one (1) School from Category A
i. Candidates who desire to pursue purely Technical Programmes may select all 1st – 4th Schools from Technical/ Vocational Category, Category E and must still select the 5th Choice from Category D
According to GES, private Senior High Schools (SHSs) and private TVET schools are not beneficiaries of the Free SHS.

It says candidates who desire to pursue courses in private schools should make their own arrangements with Private SHS and Private TVET school.
