Bawumia’s ‘LIES’ exposed: We have not been paid legacy arrears – Teachers

legacy arrears

The Vice President of Ghana claimed that all legacy arrears owed teachers have been cleared, but teachers have stated that the claims are false.

The Coalition of Aggrieved Teachers (CoAT) disputed claims made by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The second gentleman of the land confidently indicated during the NPP 2020 election manifesto launch that the government has settled all legacy arrears of teachers.

To set the records straight and put the facts in the right perspective, Coalition of Aggrieved Teachers have said, every effort to ensure government pays the legacy arrears has yielded no positive outcome for teachers.

In an interview with the coalition to substantiate the claims by the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the President of the Coalition of Aggrieved Teachers, Effah Kweku Tabiri told Citi News, the government has not acted as indicated by the vice president.

He called on the government to live up to its own promise by clearing all the arrears.

“It is true that in 2012, some of them received their arrears but from 2013 to now, we have not received a penny from the government but we heard the Vice President saying that they had cleared all legacy debts. It is untrue that we have been given our arrears,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of members of the coalition, he said…

“What we want to do is to organize a press conference to draw the attention of the media to this situation. We are calling on the government to pay us our arrears because it is legitimate”.

This revelation has exposed the vice president after his public comment, which suggested that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had cleared arrears owed to teachers from the John Mahama administration to date.

In a related development,  the vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been the talk of town owing to a google search algorithm which suggested that he was the biggest liar in Ghana.

The government is yet to counter the information coming from the Coalition of Aggrieved Teachers.
