Dollar to Cedi Exchange rate: Forex bureaus sell $1 at GH¢12.20, BoG pegs at GH¢8.61 on January 6
Dollar to Cedi Exchange rate for the day out and whiles Forex bureaus sell $1 at GH¢12.20, BoG pegs the selling prices at GH¢8.61 on January 6.
The day’s business opened with the cedi losing grounds against the dollar. Rates quoted by Afriswap Bureau De Change in Osu, Accra shows a buying rate of $1 to GHS11.30 and a selling rate of $1 to GHS12.20. The interbank rates from the Bank of Ghana for the day which were based on the closing exchange rates for 5th January 2023 remain low.
The BoG Dollar to Cedi Exchange rate show its buying and selling prices changed compared to that of yesterday.
The January 5th Buy/Sell rates per dollar were GHS8.6067 and GHS 8.615. Those of today went up to Buy and Sell as GHS8.6017 and GHS 8.6103 respectively.
Those of by Afriswap Bureau De Change went up to Buy and Sell rates of GHS11.30 and GHS12.20 which are 30P and 20P more than those of yesterday.
Interestingly, while BoG is quoting a buying price of 10.3427 and a selling price of 10.3548 for the Pound Sterling. A buying price of GHS13.80 and selling a rate of GHS14.70 are being quoted by Forex Bureaus.
The Euro is trading at a buying price of 9.0633 and a selling price of 9.0723 as compared to yesterday’s trading of a buying price of 9.1213 and a selling price of 9.1304 quoted by the Bank of Ghana. On the open market, forex bureaus are buying at GHS11.50 and selling at GHS12.40.
Rates offered by the top five banks for the dollar are also above what is quoted by the Bank of Ghana. Check the rate quoted by the banks for the dollar today.
Rates quoted by the Afriswap Bureau De Change also went up. It is selling the dollar at 12.20 whiles the buy rate shot up by 30p to start trading at GHS11.30 as shown in the table below.

At the GCB, the Buy rate for the dollar was GHS9.50 and the sell rate was GHS11.60.
At the Stanbic Bank, the Buy rate for the dollar was GHS9.20 and the sell rate was GHS11.20
At the ABSA, the Buy rate for the dollar was GHS10.00 and the sell rate was GHS10.90
At Fidelity Bank, the Buy rate for the dollar was GHS10.2 and the sell rate was GHS12.10.
At the CalBank, the Buy rate for the dollar was GHS9.30 and the sell rate was GHS12.01
At the Binance P2P, the Buy rate for the dollar was GHS11.40 and the sell rate was GHS11.90
