US President Joe Biden Congratulates Tinubu, Says Nigeria’s Success Is The World’s Success
U.S. President Joe Biden expressed optimism about continuing to work with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to foster economic development, strengthen national security, and advance human rights in the country. On Monday, Tinubu was sworn in as president of Nigeria by Olukayode Ariwoola, the country’s Chief Justice, at Eagles Square in Abuja.
U.S. President Joe Biden expressed optimism about continuing to work with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to foster economic development, strengthen national security, and advance human rights in the country.
On Monday, in Eagles Square in Abuja, Nigeria’s Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola swore in Tinubu as the country’s president.
Biden wrote a congratulations statement to Tinubu in which he praised Nigeria as Africa’s greatest democracy and economic nation, saying that its success is the world’s prosperity. President Joe Biden expressed the goodwill of the American people to the government and the people of Nigeria on the occasion of the inauguration of a new president in Nigeria. “My administration has worked to strengthen ties between the United States and Nigeria,” he said, “and I look forward to continuing this work with President Tinubu to support economic growth, advance security, and promote respect for human rights.”
President Biden noted that the large and active Nigerian diaspora in the United States contributes greatly to the deep personal ties that exist between the two nations.
“I am excited to draw even more inspiration from the ideas and vigor of this vibrant relationship between our countries as we strengthen our partnership with Nigeria, he said.
He added that the United States is committed to working with Nigeria as a friend and partner to bring about a better future for all people everywhere.
And “elected leaders owe it to their people to show that democracy can deliver for their needs,” he said.
