I’m not a corrupt Education Minister – Adutwum reacts to $1.2 Million scandal
The Minister of Education, Dr. Osei Adutwum has reacted to the publication that suggested an amount of $1.2 million from the World Bank which was to be used for training teachers.
The Education Minister said he is not corrupt while telling his side of the story at a press briefing. Dr. Osei Adutwum added that the Ministry organized digital literacy training for over 41,000 teachers, among other training sessions organized for teachers.
During the press briefing, he disclosed that teachers in Ghana have been rolled onto a platform where they receive digital training.
“NTC platform has also trained 43,000 teachers. Ask my colleague teachers across the country, and they will tell you they are on a platform and learning digital literacy,” He said in May.
He added that, as an educationist, he arrived in Ghana with the aim of assisting the NPP-led government and Nana Addo to achieve the vision of transforming Ghana’s education sector.

“I did not come to the country to be corrupt, I will never do that. The amount is sitting in the Ministry of Education (MoE) account. So, ladies and gentlemen, nothing can be further from the truth,” he disclosed while briefing the press on the $1.2 million World Bank alleged scandal.
In a related development, Dr. Clement Apaak, a member of the NDC and the Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee, had indicated they will investigate the alleged $1.2 million World Bank education ministry scandal. Dr. Clement Apaak.

Speaking on JoyNews Dr. Clement Apaak, revealed that an amount of $1.2 million from the World Bank for GALOP training under the Education Ministry has the potential of asking Ghana to be blacklisted by the World Bank. He furthered that the Minister of Education must be forthcoming with explanations to debunk the allegation.
