Senior staff in various universities in the country says it will on Monday, October 19, 2020, embark on a strike over government’s failure to improve their conditions of service, the Daily Graphic has reported.
The National Chairman of the Senior Staff Association announced the strike at a press conference held on Friday October 16, 2020 at Accra
Speaking at the press conference, Mr Abdul-Majeed Yussif indicated the government has shown bad faith in ongoing negotiations concerning their conditions of service.
Mr Abdul-Majeed Yussif noted the migration of the payroll of public universities onto the controller and accountant general’s payroll system among others are their concern.
“We reiterate our call to government to stop the subtle moves to do so. Instead, we strongly advocate for special dispensation akin to that granted to the security services and other public institutions with respect to salary administration.”, the National Chairman stated
